    At Makkajai, we believe that learning should be fun - especially for young kids who are our future. We build smartphone and tablet based games, which delight kids, while they learn and practice Math. Our challenges are big - impacting millions of kids worldwide and our path is not always easy. We hire the best minds to innovate, build and break things so that kids could have the best learning experience possible.

     

    In order to achieve this, we are looking for a creative Art Director, who would be responsible for developing and maintaining a clear vision and delivering a captivating visual message that speaks directly to the kids.

     

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Work together with artists, game designers and developers to produce and enhance our games, by creating stellar art.

    • Leading, creating and producing art in collaboration with other team members.

    • Be responsible for a consistent art style to be used in all Makkajai apps.

    • Determine the overall style or tone, desired for each project along with project team members.

    • Hands on work for graphics that will go into our games.

    • Recruit freelancers, artists to work with us on different games.

    • Review and approve designs, artwork and graphics developed by various artists.

    • Get team buy - in by presenting final layouts, storyboards, and illustrations, encouraging members to provide feedback.

    • Lead/support artists in setting daily tasks and milestones.

    • Work with others to create the end to end experience - music, sounds, screen flow and other elements that go into creating an immersive experience for the player.

    Requirements:

    • At least 6 years of game art experience, with some experience leading a team.
    • Have a unique personal style that is aligned with our vision and is appealing to kids, both boys and girls.

    • Proficiency with Adobe creative suite or similar software and some experience with Unity.

    • Has experience illustrating, creating characters and captivating environments.

    • Should have a portfolio on Behance/deviantart/artstation or a similar platform, showcasing all the interactive experiences created.

    • Is comfortable and experienced in moving between 2D and 3D.

    • Should be self motivated and have a drive for continuous self improvement.

    • Is fluent in written and spoken English and has strong collaboration skills.
